DR. SHYAM LAL THAPAR NURSING AND PARAMEDICAL INSTITUTE

Late Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar (1909 - 1975) is a renowned freedom fighter in Punjab. He is former Health Minister in Punjab & Tamra Patra Awardee. He belonged to a family which is known for its total participation in the freedom struggle right from 1919.

Late Mrs. Shanti Devi Thapar is wife of Late Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar and a companion throughout the journey of Dr. Thapar. She is also a renowned freedom fighter and social worker in Punjab.

Late Dr.Shyam Lal Thapar after completing his medical education from Amritsar Medical College stated his Medical Practice in moga in 1931. He became a leading Physician of the area. Dr. Thapar started the first T.B sanatorium in Moga to fight the deadly disease for which there was no cure in those days. After Independence, Dr. Thapar was associated with the number of educational institutions in Moga and always advocated for quality education. His attachment with medical profession and education inspired us to start Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Nursing and Paramedical Institute in Moga, Punjab.

Dr. Malti Thapar, M.B.B.S., (Ex Minister, Punjab)

Dr. Malti Thapar is the Chairperson of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation and Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing (DRSLTCN), Moga, Punjab since 1993. She is Ex-Health Minister of Punjab and health has served as a Gynecologist in Moga, punjab since 1971. She is a renowned social worker, committed Congress worker, famous educationist and entrepreneur.

She is totally committed for upliftment of the weaker sections of the society. She has dedicated herself for value-based politics. She has been awarded with many prestigious awards for her contribution to the society.

She completed her MBBS from Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana, in 1970. She had served as President of the Indian Medical Association Punjab State Branch for 3 years, and as Vice President of Central Indian Medical Association, New Delhi.

Dr. Pawan Thapar

Dr. Pawan Thapar is the Managing Director of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation and Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing (DRSLTCN), Moga, Punjab since 1993. He is a renowned Social Worker and has been associated with number of organizations.

Dr. Pawan Thapar had a vision to be a successful entrepreneur and he along with his wife Dr. Malti Thapar started a Pharmaceutical company in Moga. Before rising to the position of a successful entrepreneur, he started his career as a medical practitioner along with his father Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar, a practicing doctor and true Gandhian. Interestingly, Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar was also a first cousin to the famous freedom fighter Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar, an associate of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.

Dr. Tanuj Thapar, M.B.B.S., M.S. (ENT)

Dr. Tanuj Thapar is a Director and Secretary of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation and Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing (DRSLTCN). He is the Medical Director of Thapar Hospital & Research Institute, Moga, Punjab. He is an M.B.B.S. , M.S. (ENT) M-Fellow Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, USA Consultant ENT & Head – Neck Surgeon.

Dr. Thapar practices both pediatric and adult otolaryngology at Thapar Hospital & Research Institute which caters to a large cross-section of people, irrespective of their economic status and gender. Our competent and experienced doctors at the hospital are supported by skilled and dedicated teams of nursing and other Paramedical staff. The range of services includes medical and surgical specialties, diagnostics, in-patient, and out-patient services. The facilities at the hospital are available to the students of nanny course for training purposes.

Dr. Manish Thapar, M.B.B.S., M.D., Thomas Jefferson University (USA)

Dr. Manish Thapar is a Director of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation and Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing (DRSLTCN). He is the Medical Director of the Liver Transplant at Virtua or Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ. He is a specialist in Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Manish Thapar is focused on taking care of patients with viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatocellular cancer and transplant evaluations. He has a special interest in hereditary and genetic disorders of the liver , including Hemochromatosis and Wilsons disease. He has trained with Porphyria experts and works closely with the American Porphyria foundation to take care of this group of patients.

Mr. Anuj Thapar, MBA (USA)

Mr. Anuj Thapar is a Director of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation and Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing (DRSLTCN). He is an MBA, who had worked at a very senior position with HDFC Bank and now settled in USA. He is currently working in IT Sector, for Pharmaceutical and Medical Research Industry.

Mr. Chander Manik Thapar, MBA (USA)

Mr. Chander Manik Thapar is a Director of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar Foundation and Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing (DRSLTCN). He is an M.B.A, settled in USA and is associated with Healthcare Technology Industry for the last 14 years.

Dear candidate, Late Dr.Shyam Lal Thapar, a highly respected Nationalist leader who played a great role in the freedom struggle was endowed with the spirit of service to the suffering humanity through his medical profession. With the same mission and vision, We are trying to establish the state of paramedical Education Institute and health delivery system.

Nursing is one of the noblest profession in the world. God has given the art of nursing to the person whom he considers as representatives to humanity. We all are proud of this profession and consider fortunate to have this chance to serve this ailing humanity. Nursing has a very side spectrum of its activities such as different specialist to the medical professions, occupational hazards, rehabilitation fields etc.

I wish a very bright future to you hope that you will make us more proud of your hard labor and dedication to the profession. We will not leave any effort to upgrade knowledge of the student regarding the latest development in nursing and the medical field. The Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing which started in 1993 has within a span of 25 years achieved recognition as one of the top Colleges of Nursing. A commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service, and leadership is the essence of our program. The “Student First Policy” of Dr. Shyam Lal Thapar College of Nursing has contributed to the successful accomplishments and leadership of our students. Our faculty continues to grow in stature by contributing to practice-based research and innovative methods of teaching. College is equipped with qualified and competent teachers, good physical infrastructure, Library and most importantly students get the opportunity for clinical learning in parent teaching hospital with 350 beds.

A partnership with Dr. S.L.T. College of Nursing can lead to excellence in education, practice, research, and service. We offer programs starting from Auxiliary Nurse Midwife, GNM, B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and postgraduate programs M.Sc. Nursing.
